Subcommittees on Undergraduate and Graduate Student Conduct

Body

The Subcommittee on Undergraduate Student Conduct and the Subcommittee on Graduate Student Conduct are hearing boards composed of faculty and student members and are responsible for reviewing alleged violations of the Student Code (except for violations of the Sexual Misconduct Policy).

These subcommittees hold formal hearings on the following:

  1. cases in which the allegations, if substantiated, would likely result in suspension or dismissal;
  2. appeals of some decisions issued by Disciplinary Officers; and
  3. petitions from persons who have been dismissed from the university for disciplinary reasons and are seeking permission to return.

Subcommittee Membership Criteria

Student applicants must be:

  1. Enrolled full-time at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign;
  2. At least two full semesters from graduation; and
  3. In good academic standing with at least a 2.5 grade point average.

Faculty applicants must have:

  1. A full-time, part-time, or zero-time faculty appointment;
  2. A primary appointment to the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign; and
  3. Demonstrated experience teaching, advising, and/or developing students.

Staff applicants must have:

  1. A full-time academic professional or civil service appointment;
  2. A primary appointment to the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign; and
  3. Demonstrated experience educating, advising, and/or developing students.

Applications

Applications to fill vacancies on the subcommittees typically become available in January. The Senate Committee on Student Discipline then approves new members during the spring semester, and service begins the following fall.
