Conflict Resolution Training
The Office for Student Conflict Resolution is offering a program that will be a great opportunity for you to develop your skills in better managing and resolving conflict.
Purpose
Students experience conflict in all aspects of their life whether it is at work, in the classroom, or in personal interactions. Conflict is inevitable; therefore it is imperative that students are well equipped to deal with conflict appropriately. Conflict resolution skills are not traditionally taught in a university setting and students may have no other way of developing these skills except through trial and error from personal experience. The Conflict Resolution Certificate Program will allow students a formal opportunity to develop conflict resolution skills and enable them to effectively utilize the skills learned in professional and personal relationships. The program takes a proactive approach by preparing students to resolve conflicts they may encounter in the future.
Skills and Benefits
The program will train students on several key skills necessary for resolving conflict. Participants will learn methods for managing conflict, as well as, understanding and identifying underlying issues surrounding conflict. The training will provide students with skills to not only resolve their own conflicts, but to also assist their peers in resolving their conflicts. The program will prove valuable to students throughout their lives and will allow students the ability to reference a formal training when presented with future conflicts.
Participants
The program is available to all undergraduate, graduate, and professional students attending the University of Illinois. There is no cost associated with the program. The number of participants will be limited to twelve students in order to maintain a participative environment during interactive discussions and activities.
